I am taking a break...
all this packing
and unpacking
is making me
tired and
weary
So I wrote this to get away from all that packing and unpacking
SOUNDS OF SILENCE
Once I could not stand the silence
upon waking
I turned
on the radio
in the car
the radio on
never quiet
always
had to
have
other voices.
Always
there were
someone else's
thoughts
and words.
I'm not sure
why
I never
sat
alone
with myself.
Quite possibly
there was
nothing
within
my silence
that I
could recognize
and that
frightened me.
Or
perhaps
there was
so little solitude
within
me
that
it
just
frustrated me.
Now it
is so different.
Silence....
within it
I'm held fast
and ravished
by
my thoughts
brought
to a passion
penetrating
to my soul
calling it
ecstasy.
I become weak
from
silence!
Nice ones! Enjoy your trip and have fun. Probably some poems will happen on your trip...let 'em.
ReplyDeletethis is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel
one of my favorite silences is sitting by the water, listening to nothing but the waves lapping softly on the shoreline
if I could live by the water like this I think I could live silently for quite a long time.
Nowadays, you go to a quiet serene place and someone shows up with a loud radio blaring.
Have a wonderful trip and I hope you can enjoy lots of silence.:)
tc
This is good, and I can relate. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Don.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the poem.
The one you wrote on silence
today made we want to write a poem
on that subject.
I probably will write some poems
on my vacation... as I will have
no distractions... just me.
And being at the Ocean will help
also.
See you when I return.
Margie

ReplyDeleteSo you are another that loves
the silence. I love the silence
when I take a walk early in the
morning...and all I hear is the
quiet.. so much peace them.
I just have my own thoughts
.... It makes me so happy!
Thanks for the nice wishes
for my trip. I will have lots
of silence ... as I will be
at the Ocean.
See you when I return.

Smile please.
I know of mo better companion then solitude and meditation...it's a release and recentering...the key is quieting the mind from the usual noise...a little yoga combined really helps...best of wishes...
