We often think
if things were different
we could be happy.
Happiness is not a result of other people
and certain circumstances.
Happiness is that
small core
of well being within
regardless
of what hell
rages outside.
It is true
we can live with extreme stress
and hurt
and pain
and it affects us more deeply
than even we can comprehend.
But still
set aside from all of this
is that personal relationship
with oneself
and with one's own personal God
that can blaze
and sing
until nothing else
can hold us for long.
Happiness
is inner
that
affects
the outer.
every word is so true! Beautiful verse.
ReplyDeleteHappiness is not a destination...it's journey.

I guess we all live too much in the world of If onlies...we need to learn to live in the world that is and not in the world that could have been!

ReplyDeleteOh Margie, u always hv a way of reaching to my soul, I was just thinking this moment that I wud hv been happier if things were different in my life and here u r with this beautiful poem.

ReplyDeleteVery insightful margie...:)
ReplyDeleteHappiness comes from certain set of attitudes rather than circumstances...isnt it?
Some people it seems will never get this, never. I have pounded my head against that wall trying in vein to get the point across that happiness is not OUT THERE. So much effort put forth in searching, so much missery discovered guised as hope.
ReplyDeleteIt is one of the most simple basic facts of life. It is also, apperantly, the most difficult to grasp.
"Happiness is not a result of other people
ReplyDeleteand certain circumstances."
How right you are. But sadly many of us blame the surroundings and circumstances.
You are so right margie. we keep chasing happiness but its right here inside us and its for us to discover. love this poem.

beautiful... very beautiful. Every word of it.
ReplyDeleteYou will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.
-Albert Camus
Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.
-Benjamin Disraeli

ReplyDeleteListen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!
ReplyDeleteLook to this Day!
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the Verities and Realities of your Existence.
The Bliss of Growth,The Glory of Action,The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And To-morrow is only a Vision;
But To-day well lived makes Every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!
Kalidasa
Thanks Keshi!
