I like trees that are bare. . .
Not because life seems to be gone
Nor because death seems to be lurking there . . .
Each limb protruding in the sun.
But in their nakedness their is beauty . . .
Each bend, each curve, each crook can be seen
Each little twig its own personality . . .
In every direction the branches lean.
There is nothing hidden by leaves. . .
The little birds' nests stand out forlorn
Deserted for the warmth of the eaves . . .
The humble abodes now open to the storm.
Yes, I like trees when I can see . . .
The secrets they can no longer hide
The scars of battle they could not flee. . .
And now winter winds they bravely bide!
That's beautiful Margie. It reminds me of seeing such beauties.
ReplyDeleteGoodlife.
Trees the ancient spirits always holding out their hands ... giving us shade in the summer ... housing the birds. Salute your tree and hug it! Thank you for sharing your poem about trees. :o)

i like bare trees, too. there's something almost mystical about them.
ReplyDeletewonderful, margie!
a slovenian poet once wrote the following haiku i love (i'll give the translation as i remember it):
falling leaves
each day a better view
from here to the sky
silva mizerit
Me too! In their nakedness I feel their strength - the core, the frame that supports so much Life.
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful words are like the sweet leaves that allude to, and lead us to that core.
Thank you.
Now I can look at bare trees in a different light.love it Margie. You write a special poem for every day.you are so talented.
ReplyDeleteI get kinda depressed when I see the trees bare. But when they start icing up and shining brightly due to the sunlight--with prisms of rainbows---that's when I get happy again...until they start growing leaves in May.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem!

ReplyDeleteThank you!
I am looking at all the beauties in my front yard...as I write this.
They are full of majesty!
One of them looks especially sad..
it's so bare...but I see so much beauty in its bareness!

yes trees suffer in silence
ReplyDeletewe humans dont feel a ting when we chop off their branches for some reason or other
we dont chop of the limbs of animals coz we hear them cry in pain
but the plants too feel pain
may be more than animals
who nos?
wud u beat up a deaf mute?
hmm a different viewpoint. I like them nice and green. Thats probably because I am caught up in a desert now with no form of greenery around me.
