Sometimes . . . when I walk alone at night
under the trees . . .
with the sky, star-sprinkled above me
I feel as tho' God were walking by my side . . .
I can hear His breath in the rustling leaves
His voice in the soft note of a sleepy bird . . .
and my heart within me throbs with joy
"Oh God," I whisper
"I thank Thee that I live!"

Hi Margie!
ReplyDeleteThak you for this poem prayer. Walking with God.
Greeting and blessing to you!
I think that the first time I ever truly experienced God was outdoors on a cloudless night, many years ago, walking alone and looking up at the cosmos. I felt so small and yet so much a part of it all...
ReplyDeletethis is so true.
ReplyDeletesometime when I feel lonely, I always tell myself that god is with me, am not alone.
We all come on the mother earth~but very few are enlightened enough to ask the questions you asked in this poem of yours.~Only a pure & humane heart can ask such...:)

Hi margie,
ReplyDeleteMy visits to blogger have greatly reduced now, as college has started. But each time I feel sad, or need an encouragement to lift my spirits, I know where I have to come to.
Your this poem has truly touched my heart.
I needed a friend today, and i just overlooked God, who was there beside me all day long!!!
Thank you margie!!!
preetha!
This is beautiful....often we forget God is there walking along side, I often have been touched by the softness of a breeze gently brushing my face...and my heart beats loudly with His love...
ReplyDeleteMargie, this is a poem I wrote in August 2006..thought I would share it with you..It is on my musings site for August ... this was the day my love for God would never leave me..
ReplyDeleteI thought I was dreaming…
God came to me, and spoke; He whispered in my ear,
“Hush be still.” Then a silence came over me.
This has to be a dream…this is not real….
I saw Him everywhere; in the trees, in the sky, in the beautiful winter’s day…
I heard Him in the crunchy, dry grass, in the pine needles as they tinkled…
I was touched by God,
I felt the gentleness of a soft breeze, which touched my face…
The breeze so close I could taste it…magical.
No, this was no dream,
It was too powerful.
I knew God was here; my heart pounding I could feel His love;
I had been lifted up…filled up.
Look around you God IS here....
Now this happened afterwards, as I was returning to my car there was a stationary "mr whippy" van displaying a sign "Jesus Saves"
preetha, I am so very glad to know this...your kind words mean so much!
ReplyDeleteAnd, you are so welcome!
Margie
Carol, thank you for sharing that beautiful poem with me...it is truly touching....
ReplyDeleteBless you!
