TOAST TO FRIENDS

Caravans of people, coming, going,
This way, that way, every way,
So long as it's the way that leads home.
Back to the fireside,
With its faces dear and its homey cheer!
Its Feast of Thanksgiving and its opportunity
To be together again,
And drink a toast to Auld Lang Syne.

I'm thankful for a lot of things
Far more than I can count,
That come into my hours and days
And swell the whole amount.

I'm thankful for the game of Life
With all its odds and ends,
But let me drink a toast tonight
In gratitude for friends!
