The snow is so beautiful, Godit turns the marsh grass
into plumed scepters ...
bends the pine low
frosts the hedge
the sky is the color of the inside of a shell ...
a lone duck flies by
with a sense of urgency
ice floes drift on a pewter sea ...
and new snow falls
silently
oh, God, how can I bear to die
and leave your lovely earth?

They drive like crazies on the ice, they are used to warm and dry weather most of the time here!

ReplyDeleteThis is one of your very best, dear Margie. I can picture the beauty of the snow on the trees by looking out the window. It still amazes me! The last part "Oh, God, how can I bear to die and leave your lovely earth" is how so many of us feel. Nature is so compelling and part of us with each breath. This is wonderful!

Lovely poem Margie. Snow makes the landscape very beautiful and serene, a photographer's and artist's dream, but that is the only good thing about it. Snow makes driving conditions horrible and can be bad for health if precautions not taken.
