I see you
though years have passed
there's just a smile
between the days
I hear the words
that touch the soul
before the sound ~
If I should call
I know you'd come
although "I need you"
wasn't said
there are no trumpeters
who walk before a friend ~
A life is full
of many rooms
with doors that swing
both to and fro
a friend can open up
the locks
without a key ~

I have known my friend Melissa (pictured with me here)
since 1991, we both moved to Colorado the same year.
We became instant friends.
I miss seeing her as much as I used to when we lived
in the same city but she's not too far to visit
and I know our friendship is for always!
It is truly a blessing to be friends with Melissa.

Hi Margie,
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of you both. Real friendships don't come around too often, but the friends that remain are the special people who continue to touch our lives.
Beautiful poem!
Have a nice day
Lydia, Melissa and I are friends for life!
DeleteThanks for the kind words.
Always appreciated :)
HI MARGIE- true friendship is a blessing. I have lost a few over the years and I miss them so much. Hang on to Melissa in whatever way you can.

DeleteSmiles and hugs to you.
It is the same with my friend Viv, instant friendship from the moment we met and my family had just moved to NH. She now lives about an hour north, but we talk on the phone once a week and email all the time. When I'm really sick, she finds ways to help my family and me. I'm so glad you have such a dear friend too.
ReplyDeleteLaura, you are blessed to have such a good friend, just like I am blessed with Melissa.
DeleteI am happy for you :)
Margie, I think you have so many friends and you remember the time spent with them. That is so precious.
ReplyDeleteThis poem brought memories to me. I had three dear girl friends when I was living in my native country. They were so dear, they gave me great advice and their support. I miss them very much.
You are a beautiful poet and a beautiful woman, Margie!
This poem is tender and touching!
Warm hugs from Kaya.
Kaya,
DeleteYou are so kind.
You always make me feel special, thank you!
I have had and do have a lot of friends and each one is a treasure to me.
Some friends live faraway and I miss then but keep in touch via phone calls .
I talk to Melissa often on the phone.
I know how you must miss those dear friends from your native country.
Happy day to you Kaya
Warm hugs and smiles

There's something strangely and solidly reassuring about seeing true friends in such impossible surroundings.
ReplyDeleteGeo, Melissa and I are the "truest" of friends.

Beautiful lines on friendship Margie. My favorite is the last stanza- life is full of rooms with doors that can open or shut, so very true. A true friend is someone who doesn't need that key.
