The nicest thing about the end of the day
is the giving.
We give in to needed rest
and forgiving ourselves
that everything on our list
was not accomplished
in one short day.
we come
to this point
when it is no longer restful
or useful
to press for time
or worry about
whether or not
we accomplished
all we wanted to
in that short day.
It is evening
and we can give comfort
to the tired
peace
to the weary
but more than that
cheerfulness
and love.
We are fortunate
when we can come
to this point and place
and not regret
what the day has held
and look forward
to the excellence and brightness
and beauty
of tomorrow!
we are indeed fortunate!
ReplyDeleteMargie,
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing your light to all of us. I feel such a sense of joy when I open your site.
May we be grateful for each day and all of its blessings and lessons. May we rest and refresh and always look forward to tomorrow.
Blessings of peace, joy and love!
Margie...lovely...this one and all the others. Had to catch up since I have been so tied up with the business. You have a wonderful gift. Glad you share it with all of us.
ReplyDeleteI try to see the beauty everyday and I want to remember my life for those things rather than a clean house : )

ReplyDeletei love it when you say that forgiving too is a kind of giving. Good one Margie.
ReplyDeleteI had to scratch off my Jet-Ski plan as it was windy over the lake. It is a 3 hr drive each way, so i decided it is not worth driving 3 hrs only to be told that the lake is closed due to strong winds.
Hope you are having a fantastic weekend and hope Jeff is having fun at the bike race.
take care

So very true, and I think tonight will be one of those nights.
ReplyDeleteI am worried Margie, I am worried at the speed of things and no one has time. Looks like you walk slow, stop, take a breath of fresh air and you have time to smile. You give me hope Margie.
ReplyDeleteA nice way to think!
ReplyDeleteLovely Margie...!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend! :)
loving it!

ReplyDelete(have a lot of catching up to do :))
Never thought along these lines...
ReplyDeleteBeing kind to oneself: what an important skill!
ReplyDeleteI love this, and wish it were this easy. Would put sleep aids outta business, huh? My mind, at night, is like a light with a 200 watt bulb and the off switch not working.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Kathi--I wish I had this mindset! It sounds PERFECT!
ReplyDelete:)
I think it's important to slow down. I know this is one of my weaknesses... I'm always on the go!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written as always ♥
Robyn
Thank you for sharing this poem. If I can come home each night and lay my weary head and reflect on the day, I hope to have made a difference in my life and some one elses.
