A little child knelt to pray
His hands were clasped at his chin ...
His eyes were closed, his head bowed
"God forgive men for their sin.
"Those men who made the war, God
And took my daddy away ...
From mommy, sister amd me
Dear God, make those men behave!
"Now mommy cries and cries, God
She's good and kind - mommy is
She wouldn't hurt any one , God
She didn't make the war that is.
"It was made by awful, and uncaring men."
Tears ran down his little face
And broken sobs shook his frame
While he prayed for peace and grace!
Very poignant and inspirational piece Margie. It is always the little children who suffer the most isn't it. An evocative reminder of the evils of war.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Margie! If mothers ruled this World, there would be no war!!
ReplyDeleteLet us all pray for peace and grace! Amen.
ReplyDeleteThe impact of war on the child is often forgotten or overlooked, isn't it? This gives the child a voice.
