I've lived too long to doubt that now ...
It has its melody, it's harmony ...
And sometimes seems to be ...
Oh yes, a trifle out of key!
It has its pause and rest ...
It's silence, just a test ...
To find us, you and me ...
When off our guard ...
In tune or out of it ...
Hum dum da dee!
It's twanging sharps and flats ...
Only the this and that's ...
Of every day to make for individuality ...
Life is a song, a thrilling, willing lark on wing ...
Oh, let it sing, my friend, sing, sing!
