Love
delicate as a slender
thread of dew
upon the grass ~
lace of cobwebs
shattered by a broom
milkweed pods
that fly before the wind
rose petals
falling in a heated room ~
love
strong as the skein
that binds my life
to yours ~
your steady heartbeat
underneath my head
my arms to take
your love
and hold it close
through rides of dreams
till we as one awake ~

After over thirty years of marriage my love for him
is enduring and more beautiful than it was the day we married.
He makes my heart go pitter patter every day of my life!
My dear Margie, this is the most beautiful poem about love. I never thought about love as delicate as a slender thread of dew. I agree it's very delicate and your comparison is so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAnd love is strong.... That is so true also.
Thirty years together that is wonderful!!! Your love became more deep and more beautiful. Margie, I am lucky that I know you. You see always the brightest side of this life and I need it from time to time. Thank you for this beautiful and inspiring poem!!!
I send you my deep admiration and warm wishes, Margie!
Dear kaya, and it's a joy to know you.
DeleteThank you so much for the lovely comment, you touched me so much.
I was happy to share so you are welcome, very welcome.
xx
You write Love and share it to show us what love can be what love can do and what a natural world of beauty would it be if we could all love that much, angel I'm in awe
ReplyDeleteLorraine , do you remember that song, "what's it all about alfie? "
DeleteYou remind me of it, especially these lyrics, "I believe in love alfie, without true love, we don't exist, alfie"
Just call me ":the love guru" LOL
You made me smile.
x
BEAUTIFUL, Margie. You know I've played (violin) at hundreds of weddings, but one I shall never forget. A Priest in his homliy to the newly married couple, said "I pray this is NOT the happiest day of your life. I PRAY THAT FIFTY YEARS from now, you will look at one another and say, "WE HAD NOT A SINGLE CLUE what happiness and love were all about".......
ReplyDeleteNote on program: String quartet play Wagner Bridal March.
Thank you, Steve.
DeleteWell, it's more than thirty years for me and I can truly say my wedding day was not the happiest day of my life, it was just a prelude of all the happy days to follow.
I am blessed and I am grateful, so very grateful.
