UPDATE & A NEW POEM

Life has been so very busy and I've had no time to visit my blogger friends.
So sorry!
I do hope to be back to posting new poems around the end of Sept.

I've been preoccupied with our dog Jake as we almost lost him 3 weeks ago to a condition called bloat....luckily I got him to our vet before his stomach had twisted.
The "little rascal" will be with us for a long life....God willing!

Next Thursday, I'll be heading up to Nova Scotia for a 2 week visit to see my wonderful family members that live there.
I'm so thrilled to be going, just a little worried about leaving Jake after this terrible incindent with the bloat, but I'm leaving him in good hands with my hubby.
He'll be at doggie daycare when my hubby is at work.
I know Jake will be ok!
We love the little guy (well, not so little now....he's almost 65 lbs.) SOOOOOOOOO MUCH!

I'm going to try and visit a few blogger friends before I leave on my trip.
Won't be able to visit everyone though....as I have soooo much to do before I leave.
Take care and I wish everyone beautiful days full of joy, love and peace!

(The picture of Jake and me was taken in Feb. when we all went cross-country skiing....it was a wonderful weekened, and just look at all that snow!)

HUGS!

Margie:)

THOUGHTS OF YOU

They come to me with evening, calm and still
and bring me peace
these thoughts of you.

Slowly in the quietness of dusk
they fill me with
tranquility.

They make my eyes aware of loveliness
of intricate shadings
purple and grey.

They bring to me the far-off faint perfume
of all unseen
and beautiful flowers.

They tune my ears to drowsy humming sounds
of winds and waves
and distant bird calls.

LET ME FORGET

Let me forget how quickly
twilight gathers
when days are done.
Let me forget the cold
grey rain a bitter wind blows.
Let me forget how shadows
sometimes cover
the staying stars.
But, let me remember forever
the little victories
forgetting the scars!

**Update**

STARS

In all of our short lives we love to see
Mysterious stars in clear and shining skies.
That they are wonderful we all agree.

While still alive, late in the afternoon
We wait to see in a coming cloudless night
Numerous stars near a new or fuller moon.

We stare at stars revealed in many flares
What are these stars? How do they come to shine?
And how do they stare at us, like birds and bears?

Are there more stars, shedding a light more pure
In a hidden universe beyond our sight?
In endless guessing how can we be sure?

How long have stars and skies been what they are?
There is, of course, another endless query:
Is there eternal life upon some star?

Some think so, some more do not believe it.
Unnumbered billions, now no longer living
Died on our starlit earth, grieving to leave it!

TOAST TO FRIENDS

Caravans of people, coming, going,
This way, that way, every way,
So long as it's the way that leads home.
Back to the fireside,
With its faces dear and its homey cheer!
Its Feast of Thanksgiving and its opportunity
To be together again,
And drink a toast to Auld Lang Syne.

I'm thankful for a lot of things
Far more than I can count,
That come into my hours and days
And swell the whole amount.

I'm thankful for the game of Life
With all its odds and ends,
But let me drink a toast tonight
In gratitude for friends!

TO MY HUSBAND

I find, as the day pulls to a close
And I sit and ponder this wondrous life
That the softness I feel
Has a power that is real ...
And there's something that makes me kneel
And I say, "Dear God, how glad I am
To contentedly sit in wamth and peace
As a rest eternal will never cease!"

I find, as the day its end draws near
And I sit contented will a full heart
That contentment I know
Is real and must show ...
And I know that from this the blessings flow
And I say, "Dear God, how glad I am
To be able to know what makes me calm
Like the soothing of music, a magic balm!"

I find, as the hours close in the day
As I know and am glad I have no strife
That the one that is near
Is the one that is DEAR! ...
And I look for you, who will appear
And I say, "Dear God, how glad I am
To be blessed to have loved one such as he
And to be blessed to have him be in love with me!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
( Wishing everyone that celebrates Valentine's day....a very special day of love!)
LIFE IS A SONG
Life is a song, I know
I've lived too long to doubt that now ...
It has its melody, it's harmony ...
And sometimes seems to be ...
Oh yes, a trifle out of key!
It has its pause and rest ...
It's silence, just a test ...
To find us, you and me ...
When off our guard ...
In tune or out of it ...
Hum dum da dee!
It's twanging sharps and flats ...
Only the this and that's ...
Of every day to make for individuality ...
Life is a song, a thrilling, willing lark on wing ...
Oh, let it sing, my friend, sing, sing!
NO CHARGE
Across the Bridge to Dreamland
you can ride upon a star ...
as you sail above the pine trees ...
to a land that's very far.
From the little weedy troubles ...
in the gardens of today ...
for in Dreamland, you buy roses ...
but you never have to pay!
SLEEP
When sleep comes
Let it be gentle as
spring rain ...
Brave as the daffodil
Reaching through the
dark earth ...
Triumplantly to live
again.
Sweet as the muskiness
of roses
Blooming in deep fragrance
Showering the earth with
crimson petals ...
Frail, yet everlastingly
secure.
Vibrant and warm as the autumn
leaf
Reflecting from the sun
The color, joy and life ...
Which nature shares so happily
With all mankind
When sleep comes
Let it be silent as the snow
Quiet, pure and clean ...
That we may lie beneath the
blanket of earth's peace
Softly and serene.
A PARTING THOUGHT
May each day grant some cherished dream
and bring to all saddened hearts delight ...
May all our thoughts be touched with love ...
as peace enfolds us for the night!
BALLET OF TREES
The earth is a huge theater at night
The moon a spotlight for a fabulous ballet ...
Dancers dressed in their green flowing gowns ...
sway to the music of the soft breeze ...
to the rhythm of the wind.
They whirl in the moonlight ...
before their audience of shining stars ...
Beautiful ballerinas!
Their slim forms bending low ...
tossing their heads heavenward ...
twirling and sweeping outstretched arms ...
through the brisk evening air ...
then bowing when their dance is done!
The stars blink out with the coming dawn ...
and the green dancers fade into stately trees ...
The theater becomes a busy world!
QUATRAIN
The only love we really keep
is the love we give away ...
for both the gift and giver are one ...
and each the other will repay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
I'm going on a weekend trip to The Mts for some skiing.
I'm very thrilled to be going, as it was a surprise from my hubby.
Leaving in the morning.
I'll be back on Monday, and will be by to visit all of my nice blogger friends then.
Thanks so much for all your visits!
It's always so special when you drop by!

SINGING LEAVES

The winter winds blow raw and chill
The earth is blanketed in snow ...
It's bleak and bare and cold and stark ...
And yet to me it isn't so.

For just outside my windowpane
There stands my own enchanted tree ...
It's limbs are bare and shorn of green ...
And all of summer filigree.

But on a sunny winter's day
The little sparrows gather there ...
And fluffing up there feathered plume ...
Their chit-chat warms the winter air.

Each little bird a singing leaf
A chirping chorus as they sing ...
To branches stark and cold and bare ...
Yet holding all the joy of spring.

IN MY OWN PARTICULAR WAY

It seems as though I knew you when
the stars began to shine ...
You laughed and smiled and I knew then ...
that you were always mine ...
in my own particular way.

We were in love, the hour was late
that night we met, my dear ...
so was it just a turn of fate ...
that made me want you near ...
in my own particular way?

We've lived a lifetime since that night
Now, darling, we belong ...
together, so my heart is light ...
and bursting with glad song ...
in my own particular way.

RECIPE FOR A DREAM

Here is a dream for sleep.
Here is a dream to keep.
Will you try?
Will you buy?

Take a thin wedge of the moon
with a tiny, wide-eyed star ...
Whip up a silver spoon ...
in a jade-green samovar.

Moisten with drops of dew
Fold in the smell of heather ...
A soft pink cloud or two ...
With a dash of April weather.

Color with rainbow's end
A petal from a flower ...
Mix together and blend ...
Let stand in the sun for an hour.

Add one ray of fading light
Sprinkle with poppy seed ...
Spread on the crust of night ...
To meet your dearest need.

A dream for sleep
A dream to keep ...
Will you try?
Will you buy?

THEY WHO SPEAK

Our little friends
who speak another language ...
dumb animals you say? Dumb?
Not you, my feathered beauty ...
making music for me when skies are grey!
Not you, my playful fluff of feline mischief ...
waiting at the window for my return at night!
Most of all, not you, lovable
barking approval of all I do ...
fetching my slippers ...
and lying in contentment beside our fireplace.
Dumb! Not they, who speak through silence
of loyalty and trust and love incomprable!

Suppose we build a bridge for you
our little friends so tried and true ...
When everthing on earth goes wrong ...
and life forgets to sing her song ...
you perk your ears and wag your tail ...
and say: "No fear, I'll never fail
Hold on, old pal, what'er you do
Close at your heels, we'll see it through
I'm all for you! I'm all for you!"

COME WITH ME

Fly to the world of make-believe
There's room for me and you!
Slip on your gown of moon-dust
And make your dreams come true!

We'll dine on honey and fairy food
We'll live in a place of gold!
We'll sleep on clouds of thistledown
And we never need grow old!

We can dance and sing to an orchestra
Melodious as the night ...
Our friends will come and join us there ...
By mellow candlelight!

And (loveliest part of everything!)
There'll be no clocks to clack ...
No bells, no time to hurry us on ...
And nothing to call us back!

MEDITATION

The measure of a thought is
ocean wide ...
For mind can walk the spheres with
easy stride ...
Can flow into the beauty of the sea ...
Or blend into the pulse of harmony.

How good when we have found the
jeweled key ...
That turns the lock of doubt and
sets us free ...
From deep desires that bind us by
their force ...
To wing our way upon an endless
course.

Let thinking drop all fetters in its
flight ...
Escape into the winds that cool the
night ...
(No longer prisoned by its mundane
bars)
To soar beyond the golden dust of
stars!

TO MY FRIENDS

When you're down in the dumps
and joys seem gone ...
Remember this maxim dear ...
"The clouds have a lining of silvery gauze."
We must turn them inside out - because
Spring will soon be here.

There's a feel in the air
and a joyous lilt ...
comes to the heart that's sick and sad ...
as the silvery clouds hurriedly fly ...
racing madly across the sky
helping to make us glad!

The season is changing.
We're changing too ...
Guard the smile in your heart today.
Green grasses are growing, and rivulets run ...
Flowers will be blooming, springtime will come ...
and joy in our hearts will stay!

MY OWN

Places belong to the people who love them.
Making this trail in the forest my own ...
here I am whole as the mountains above me ...
separate, apart, but never alone.

Here I am one with the songs and the laughter
wafted by winds from the trees to the streams ...
This is my own for I drink from its sweetness ...
strength for my living and silence for my dreams.

This is my trail where the West is unchanging
This is the secret of peace that I know.
Footsteps of others are never discordant ...
This is my own for my love makes it so!

STARS

Hast thou ever watched a starlit sky
Gazed at those jewels of night?
Hast thou ever seen one shooting by
A pure and brilliant light?

'Tis a wondrous sight my heart dost know
For I've beheld it of'en and long ...
And dreamed young dreams with spirit aglow ...
With lips breathing rapturous song!

Each star a hope reveals to me
Of numerous, thrilling things ...
Of lands afar and sights to see ...
Each star a message brings.

One star outshining all the rest
I call my guiding light ...
It stirs my depth to all its best ...
T'will lead my soul aright!

THE COMFORTING

I would not have you back on earth
your body racked with pain ...
I know that longing for your mirth ...
your friendship, is in vain!

And yet, when I sit wondering
as night is merged with day ...
It seems your spirit comes to bring ...
the words you cannot say!

SNOW

The beauty of trees in a blanket of snow
and the silence, as down the flakes fall ...
have oft put my heart in a spirit of peace ...
and taken my mind from it all!
The grace of the twigs in their frosting of white
with the deep solemn trunks of black ...
have oft made me think of my dear old home town ...
How my soul yearns right now ... to go back!

Oh, to walk through the snow when the twilight comes down
with a dog, and warm clothes ...
And a heart filled with cheer!
The summer months call with the voice of the sun ...
But, I truly am glad now that winter is here!

BELOVED

I dream of you when I see dawn
Come over the ledge like the leap of a fawn.
I dream of you when the pine trees sing
At night with a restless beat and swing.

You bring no end of love and care
To rid me of any despair.
I dream of you at dawn, at night
I love but you, my soul's delight!

TO MUSIC

There is a music of the soul
That some may never even guess ...
Which ignites the lives of people ...
And radiates happiness.

A song of beauty, that is heard
May bring us sweet forgetfulness ...
From pain or sorrow, grief, or tears ...
Live ever, in our hearts to bless.

And in that sweet song without words
A melody of pure delight!
It too, can lift us to the clouds...
And turn to light the darkest night.

Joy and beauty, love, fond and true
A song can bring us all these things ...
Our own hearts to beautify .
With an inner song, that ever sings!

MY TEACUPS

Regret, and remorse
are in my teacup.
Grief, sorrow, and tears
I've drunk it all up!

Smile, gaiety, and laughter
The handle I clutch it by.
Love, devotion, and tenderness
A sweet kiss, a bitter sigh!

Monday, January 14, 2008

WHAT WERE YOU LIKE WHEN YOU WERE TWELVE?

You loved all things in your world
even the tiniest broken flower ....
In the shining light, seeing so clearly
the joyous vibrations in all of life.
Delighting in the sun, running with the wind ...
You laughed often ...
At one with the happy songs heard everywhere.
You were love, life, light and laughter!

A WIFE TO A HUSBAND

A-shining from our eyes
Tender and true ...
The love within our hearts ...
We see...we do!

From your eyes of brown
And my eyes of blue ...
The love light is the same ...
From me to you!

NOT FORGOTTEN

Gone, but not forgotten
Enshrined in my memory ...
Are valued mental pictures ...
Which only I can see.
Memory flashes them upon the screen
In colors in every hue ...
And when I'm sad and lonely ...
"Loved Ones, I see you."
No artist's brush has touched them ...
Life has produced these pictures rare ...
Love and sacrifice; joy and sorrow ...
Have put the colorings there.
These mental pictures are not for sale ...
I'm the appreciative one, you see ...
And will you believe it when I tell you?
They're worth a million to me!

FAITH

Faith makes us carry on
Not counting the cost ...
It makes us battle on ...
When the fight seems lost.
It soothes us in sorrow ...
Which we all must know ...
Makes brighter tomorrow ...
The path we must go.

The battle is half won
Half vanished the foe ...
When in faith it's begun ...
And hearts are aglow.
Be the task great or small ...
Faith makes it worthwhile ...
Makes us heed duty's call ...
And doing it SMILE!

A BABY'S PRAYER

A little child knelt to pray
His hands were clasped at his chin ...
His eyes were closed, his head bowed
"God forgive men for their sin.

"Those men who made the war, God
And took my daddy away ...
From mommy, sister amd me
Dear God, make those men behave!

"Now mommy cries and cries, God
She's good and kind - mommy is
She wouldn't hurt any one , God
She didn't make the war that is.

"It was made by awful, and uncaring men."
Tears ran down his little face
And broken sobs shook his frame
While he prayed for peace and grace!

NOT TOO LATE

Stumbling along that highway, no beauty can you see
Just take my arm my friend, and walk along with me ...
Yonder is the road we'll take, as it is smooth and straight
Don''t shrug your shoulders friend, and say it is too late ...
Slowly we shall walk along, and see the fields so green
And on this road you'll see beauty, that your eyes have never seen ...
Just cast your eyes up in the sky, and see how clear and blue
It's not too late, my friend, to start again and live your life anew.

AROUND THE BEND

Have you ever had that lonely ache
that crushes the heart till it's likely to break
that crying out for the human touch
to fill the gap that has grieved you much?

Then suddenly, around the bend you meet a friend
just when you thought it was the end!
You clasp each other's hands, a joyous thrill envelopes you!
You, who thought the night was dark!
But, all you needed was the magic spark!

Now you know that heaven awaits around the bend!
Where skies are blue and wild flowers blend!
The blue birds sing and you have found a friend
Around The Bend!

MY FRIEND

Because you are my friend, my heart contains
a peacefulness I never knew before.
I do not seem to mind life's blows and pains . . .
They do not seem to hurt me anymore!
I do not feel as lonely nor as blue
as once I did when days seemed without end,
for now the hours are filled with thoughts of you,
and I am glad, because you are my friend!

Because you are my friend, the whole world seems
more beautiful than I had thought it was . . .
Sometimes I cannot tell the real from dreams,
Nor do I care , because . . . well, just because!
One thing I know, you seem to understand
all of the faults I try so hard to mend!
Nor have you failed as yet to lend a hand
when needed most, because you are my friend!

Because you are my friend, I feel I own
a wealth that far excels all earthly things . . .
The song of life that none should sing alone . . .
The symphony of souls that friendship brings . . .
And as I journey on life's winding road . . .
with someone true on whom I can depend . . .
I walk with lighter feet and lesser load . . .
and happier heart, because you are my friend!

Because you are my friend, I know that I
have found a refuge from the storms of strife . . .
And like a rainbow's trail across the sky . . .
You color all the drabness in my life . . .
The flowers you have strewn along the way . . .
perfume my path wherever I may wend . . .
I guess there's nothing else that I can say . . .
except give thanks, because you are MY FRIEND!
_____________________________________________________________

Hi everyone!
I am going to be taking an extended break . . . probably be back in the Fall!
Life is soooo busy for me now, but it's all good!
I'll drop in to visit all of you now and then.
Hope you all have a wonderful spring and summer!
Hugs and best wishes for much joy in your lives!
See you later!

A GIFT

Happiness . . . holding hands
with suspended time . . .
flickering flames casting shadows of dreams . . .
Remembering yesterday's stolen kiss . . .
Or, seeing the exuberance
of undaunted youth
excited in their own discoveries.

Happiness . . . counting colors
in Autumn's leaves . . .
Tasting rain that relieves
a long dry period . . .
Listening to the wind
whistling outside a snug cabin . . .
Or, basking in the warmth of
rocking a baby to sleep.

Happiness . . . that state of being
which is so solid in the contentment . . .
of quiet hours and so alive
in the breath of bustling activity. . .
But more than anything else
the realization that the gift
of life is yours to enjoy.
______________________________________________________________

Hi, to all of you . . . my special blogger friends.
I am taking a break from blogging for about a month or so.
Need to give lots of attention to our newest family member, Jake.
Having a puppy is wonderful , but lots of work too.
Also, our son will be leaving us soon for college, and I don't want to
miss any of the special times we will be sharing . . . those moments will never come again, and I can't miss a single second spent with him.
Just not enough time now . . . for writing . . . or visiting your wonderful blogs . . .
Will try and visit now and then. . .

Will miss all of you . . .
Till I return. . .
Be happy . . . take care . . . enjoy life . . . and be well.
Love to all!

NOWHERE

The way to nowhere is a beautiful road
that winds through the Garden of Fairest Dreams . . .
No pebbles of Cares are ever found there . . .
And Nature with softest rays of soul light gleams!

Where the highway to Nowhere comes to an end
there gorgeous flowers of haunting Heartsease grow . . .
and rest lies deep within the shadows that creep . . .
in the land where the winds of contentment blow!

There are no hours of time in this magic land
For the sun never rises, nor does it set . . .
For the light that shines apart comes from the heart . . .
in the throbbing breasts of those who live . . .
in the land of "Contentment, No Cares, No Fret!"

ADORATION

The love a dog will give to you
remains a thing forever true . . .
Nothing in the world can dim it
completely yours, every minute . . .
Constant as the day is long
Such a love is forever strong . . .
All you have to do to earn it
is take it, cherish and return it!

(Dedicated to Jake . . . my new Best Friend!)

MY HEART SINGS

Caged like a bird with drooping wings
my heart kept fluttering deep within . . .
One day it broke the prison walls . . .
and let the God of love come in!
And now my heart just sings and sings!

THINGS I LIKE

I like the radiance of the sun
and the friends in my life . . . that add so much joy and fun!

I like the beacon in the light
and the stars at night.

I like the ebb in the tide
and the ocean deep and wide.

I like the ripple in the sea
and the thrill that's left to me.

I like the silver in the moon
and the summer's sweet bloom!

MY NEW BEST FRIEND

His name is Jake. He became a member of our family today! We are so thrilled and happy to have him join our family! I would write a poem about him, but, the little guy tired me out today. Jake is sleeping now, after a very busy day. I guess I had better get to bed, as I know Jake will be waking me up soon!

LIFE WITH A MEANING

Jumbled thoughts, gushing, rushing
pertrubing, distrubing,
this mind of mine for an outlet.

Wording, phrasing, sentencing.
Periods, commas, question marks,
No polish - just words!

Life is like that 'til we give it a pitch
Then comes music - harmony, improvised!

COURAGE

May you always have the courage of the violet
sweet and brave . . . peeping out, as if to say . . .

There is nothing small or great
can keep me down today!

FRIENDS OF YESTERDAY

Here's to the friends of yesterday
We know not where they are . . .
But the fragrance of their friendship . . .
steals to us from afar.
Here's to their smiles and happy songs . . .
that mingled with our own.
Here's to the loving thoughts we send
to them, when we're alone.

And though we cannot see them
Tonight, we know they're here.
The knowledge of their presence
comes to us, sweet and clear.
Though they are absent and silent . . .
With us, many a vacant chair . . .
like the vase, all shattered and broken . . .
the rose fragrance lingers there!

COME SWEET SPRINGTIME

Come sweet springtime, oh springtime come quickly
Banish the chilly winds of winter again . . .
Open your doors of your treasures . . .
to gladden the souls who are weary of winter's reign!

Touch with your soft carressing fingers
the buds that are swelling on shrub and tree . . .
Linger a while among the birches . . .
Waken them from their dormancy!

Stop a while to flirt with the maples
Whisper sweet nothings where willows sway . . .
Sing to all creatures a song of gladness . . .
Loosen the bonds of winter today!

With magic touch awaken the flowers
Beckon the birds to sing to me . . .
Smile on the face of the ice bound rivers . . .
And send them tumbling down to the sea!

For we are weary, weary of winter
Its charms have faded and are no more . . .
Come sweet springtime, oh springtime come quickly . . .
Bring us the joys we are looking for!

ENSLAVED

Oh, the beauties of earth enslave me
I have searched so often in vain . ..
for the first wild woodland blossoms . . .
awakened by April's warm rain.

I have stood for hours enraptured
by the sights and sounds of spring . . .
I am a slave to the wild, sweet music . . .
of song birds on the wing.

Only last night I stood spellbound
at the evening sky's display . . .
where the red-bordered sun was sinking . . .
as it bid farwell to the day.

And its beauty ensnared my senses . . .
and a vision came to me then . . .
of a stairway leading to heaven's gate . . .
that could be traveled by children, women and men.

But the flaming sky drew its mantle of dusk
to hide the glory from view . . .
And the night grew dark , yet the spell remained . . .
until I felt the first kiss of the morning dew!

STORM

When clouds break in a dreary sky
and birds toward sheltered branches fly . . .
I sit in weary solitude . . .
engulfed by some enchanted mood.

The grayness that fortells a storm . . .
stirs feelings in my veins so warm.
Through half-closed lids I watch the worry . . .
of countless clouds that seem to hurry.

The will of Him who cautions all . . .
shall soon command the rain to fall.
And as the drops slowly hit the ground . . .
It makes such a musically pleasant sound.
While others fret and wish for warm . . .
I'm quite happy in a pensive storm!

INVITATION

Oh, leave the darkness
Come out and dance in the sunshine . . .
with the yellow butterflies . . .
Let us follow the little path . . .
along the side of the hill . . .
to where the wild white lilies . . .
hide in clumps of grass . . .
and a thousand dragonflies . . .
glisten in their flight.

Oh, leave the darkness
Come out and dance in the sunshine . . .
with the yellow butterflies!

CUPID'S DART

O, Cupid took a shining dart
and feathered it with love . . .
and wove a magc spell . . .
with all the stars above.

Then he put the moonlight
into the summer sky . . .
and stirred the breath of roses . . .
as we were passing by.

Then he bent his golden bow
from the bow-string sped the dart!
And when Love's arrow came to rest . . .
I found it in my heart!

(Dedicated to the love of my life.... my sweet husband!!!!)

CRITQUE OF ART

The most beautiful priceless gems of art
hang not in splendor in great Halls of Fame . . .
or in galleries where skills of hand . . .
has won for many a much honored name!

They're in yon forests, the distant clouds, the sky
Waterfall, bird, beast, and even the sod . . .
In the rippling leaves and the trembling wind . . .
The work of the hand of Almighty God!

There's no human hand that can paint His work
And no living voice can ever declare . . .
The living beauty . . . only enraptured hearts . . .
Can know the pricelessness that is painted there!

Man has succeeded with priceless gems of art
And endowed with the greatest of skill . . .
But when compared with the incomparable creation of God . . .
The most gifted of all is but feeble still!

HOPE

We live in hope each day and strive to mend
the breaking threads of sorrow and despair . . .
With hope we finish to the very end . . .
And weave a finish that is bright and fair.

High lights and shadows, lend a masterpiece
A depth of beauty and a richer tone . . .
Light hues gain strength, intensity increased . . .
when placed by somber hues and not alone.

With hope we ever strive to reach the light
that guides us through the path of love and peace . . .
Though shadows veil the beauty from our sight . . .
Our faith in the divine, shall never cease!

MORNING MEDIATION

Above pale portals of the dawn
Long scarlet lighted curtains now are drawn.
The crescent moon of silver gleams afar
Among the galaxies of fading stars.

Their happy songs of praise
A symphony to heaven raise.

Oh, would that everyone could be as they
These lovely birds that sing for each new day!

WHISPERS

Just listen to the whispers in the quiet
of the dawn . . .
A thousand little muffled sounds along
the winds are born. . .
The gentle rustling of a tree, the
trembling leaves that sigh. . .
The reed that bends and quivers when
the breeze goes laughing by . . .
And in the silence of the hour when
twilight shadows fall. . .
when sunset spreads its golden cloak
of raidance over all.

The air is full of whispers, little
voices scarcely heard . . .
The tinkling of the elfin bells, the
calling of a bird . . .
And in the silence of the soul when
we are all alone. . .
God speaks to us in whispers, in a
language of His own . . .
Above the loud confusion of the mind
and of the will . . .
A gentle voice breathes through the
heart and whispers . . .
"Peace . . . be still."

MEMORY OF MOM

She's always here when I need her
I lean my head on her breast. . .
Though the universe be in chaos . . .
With her I find my rest!

She listens to my troubles
when all the world is wrong . . .
And simply by her memory
fills my heart with a song!

She takes my hand in hers
And holds it firm and tight . . .
When life is filled with darkness . . .
Her love is a ray of light!

That's why, when I'm alone
And worries pile up on me . . .
I visit and tell her all my troubles . . .
Though it's only in memory!

YOUR PRESENCE

Sometimes your presence seems just like
the warming healing sun . . .
when stiff and sore, and damp and chilled
at last the night is done.

And then at times, it seems, Sweetheart
like gently falling rain . . .
A sweet refreshing, driving out
discouragement and pain!

LITTLE PRAYER FOR SPRING

Dear God, so many spring-times
I've seen break from winter's sleep . . .
that my faith is firm that bulblets
a sure rendezvous will keep.

With the great, warm sun, that's calling
to each frozen dormant thing . . .
"Wake up, and greet the spring-time
and hear the brave birds sing!"

God, help sad hearts, all frozen
in the winter of their pain . . .
Wake up to another spring-time
and greet the birds again.

Grant that sorrow's icy fetters
melt, and fall like rain - and then . . .
make their hearts bloom like lush gardens
sweet with lilies fair - Amen!
