WINGED

I held a part of Heaven in my hand today
Because I climbed a shining hill
(You of the valley will not understand
But if you've lived on mountain-tops you will)
No mortal stature ever reached so high
But I was all there is of earth and space
Because I climbed a hill and touched the sky
And felt its blueness on my lifted face
I was a God-child with new wings to wear
New wings so wide their feathers brushed the dawn
They silvered all of everything: the air
I breathed ... the living ground I stood upon
How dark the world! How dull all worldly things!
Today I wore an angel's lilting wings!

  1. Beautiful, this reminds me of the allure of accomplishment. Or the beauty of *raising above it all*...

  4. That's beautiful Margie. It reminds me of the time I stood on top of a mesa with the clouds flowing all around and about me and shared the feeling of flight with a neighboring winged one who was sailing on the updraft just a few feet away.

  8. Nothing compares when you are one with nature. Material things are nothing at all, don't know why some people put them before people!

  20. Very nice collection of poems, as always Margie :)

Having lived on top of a hill and also near a sea, i know how its can be so fulfilling to be one with nature...

But wordly things have never been dull...always interesting :)

But as Lorraine too notes...its only with freedom from all things wordly, love and peace reigns, i think

  30. I think people needed to be reminded that we have been given our heaven here on earth and we choose to make it hell or not.
Nice little reminder that heaven is all around us.

    Nice Margie
