I placed another calendar
today upon the wall
and pondered on the coming year
and just what may befall . . .
in all the days and weeks and months
before the year has fled
I wondered about
the road that lies ahead.

The days, like jig-saw puzzles, pass
Some happy, full of fun
Some full of sorrow and of pain. . .
We take them as they come.
We strive to put each in its place
as through the year we thread . . .
Sometimes, a hopeless puzzle seems
the year that lies ahead.

I look at the new calendar
and wonder that I might see
what beyond tomorrow lies
what's waiting there for me.
But, God in His far wiser way
makes a time book unread
and we must walk in hope and faith
the road that lies ahead
Warmest New Year wishes to all those who have visited me this year!
May 2007 bring much joy to your lives!
Thanks so much for all your wonderful visits!
I have loved having you here!

And I have loved visiting all of you at your wonderful sites!

Do you know that when the sun
slants a listless gold
on hearts like mine - Because of you-
my heart is never cold?

Because I know you have walked
through many a midnight glade
with dauntless steps, my pathway lies
controlled and unafraid!

Because of you, when twilight wraps
her brooding arms in grey-
my heart grows light as little birds
tucked-under-wing away.

Life's trials and goading tasks
seem not so hard to bear
when I recall in nighttime peace
YOU know- YOU know and care!

They flurry through the air like a million little gems
Wee, white molded designs like flowers without stems . . .
Falling from a drab sky to a grey, cold earth below
They fill the air like cobwebs of iridescent glow!

Who knows where they come from or how their designs are formed
As they hurry to earth, blown by blizzard and storm . . .
Who sees how they all merge as one, in piles so deep
As they drift down silently while all earth seems asleep!

I'd like to take my grief
the way a tree
bends to the
storms that beat it. . .

To see it as a part
of life . . .
and , by accepting it,
defeat it!

That each Christmas, you and yours
will enjoy the greatest of all gifts . . .
Each other!

Twilight is the lovely
when light and darkness
meet . . .

As joy and sorrow
often touch
in one mood
strange and sweet!

I have seen the snow-capped mountains
and the restless surging sea.
The dark green depths of the forests
always cast a spell over me.

I have felt the witching of deserts
and been spell-bound by Northlands drear.
I have watched a poem in motion
when I startled a bob-tailed deer.

Oh, the world is so full of beauty
unbounded, priceless and free.
Yet nothing touches my heartstrings
like the lights of home beckoning me!

There are things that Christmas brings
Snow as soft as angel wings.

Christmas trees and candlelight
Eyes that sparkle in the night.

Fire lights glow and church bells ringing
Sounds of happy voices singing.

Blessed songs that warm the heart
Truly this season is set apart.

By love and joy and cheerful giving
And all that makes our life worth living.

May we catch this spirit, hold it fast
And pray the seasons' love and warmth will last!

Golden sunrise
fills the air
and our lips
breathe a prayer.

Heat of midday
we are strong
if our hearts
hold a song.

Evening shadows
work doth cease
and our souls
echo - peace.

Hand in hand we roamed the land
one early summer night . . .
subtle minds, cerulean eyes
were stranded in the light.

He turned to me and gently smiled
a soft breeze murmured through . . .
the stars were shining in the wake
a courtship in the blue.

In THY tapestry of life, O' Lord . . .
my thanks for every stitch . . . My
family and friends who form the pattern , Lord . . .
and make my life so rich!

I searched the world
for happiness
but sorrows met me
everywhere . . .

They drove me back
to my own heart
and happiness was
waiting there!

God gave me the gift of memory. . .
that I might close my eyes and see
the ones I love, and who love me.

I want all kinds of
feelings in my life.
We gain from all our
joys and sufferings.

Contentment gives us
health . . . and beauty too.
And courage is the gift
that sorrow brings.

The bitter wind is singing
a cruel song tonight
and snow is piling deeply
in drifts so deep and white.

I find refuge in my dwelling
am there secure and warm
but please God, take care of all creatures
who must weather such a storm!

I thought I would write a poem today
but could not think of a thing to say.
I'd write a poem as sure as fate
if I could just concentrate.
So varied the topics that fill my mind
but nothing tangible I find.
Just take the weather for example
what's written about it seems quite ample.
The subject of love clutters so much stuff
In my opinion, there's more than enough.
The changes in seasons are always here
but they're always the same, year after year.
Or, one could write about sunshine or shore
but that's been done so much before.
OH! Well, I may as well go to bed
as try to bother my befuddled head.
For there's one thing I now plainly see
It's just not my day to write poetry!

It is the wind that causes the trees to sway
and caps the breakers white with spray.

The sunshine makes the flowers bright
and changes darkness into light.

The gentle rain helps things to grow
and makes our mighty rivers flow.

So many forces here are found
but it's love that makes the world go round!

I love the happy ones . . . the birds
who never do resort to words . . .
but with each breath, drop crystal notes . . .
tireless crescendos from their throats!

They do not buy commodities
Are not concerned with oddities . . .
They pass their time in grateful praise . . .
Are thankful for the many ways . . .
their faith preserves, sustaining them . . .
through heavy storm or windy whim.

I love the turn and twist and trill
of every bird upon the hill !
They sing hosannahs, though unheard . . .
with faith more eloquent than word . . .
In stormy weather, a bird's refrain
is courage singing in the rain!
