THE LIVES WE TOUCH

We never know what lives we touch
as we go lightly by
perhaps there is a passing glance
where eye encounters eye.

A smile, a simple friendly look
can seem like an embrace
and a day's mood is altered by
a single stranger's face.

Our lives, which seem our property
are public, one might say
as they meet up with other lives
today and every day.

  3. It's the little things like these, as simple as a stranger's smile which makes are days better. Some people don't even notice these things---but you do. I'm impressed. :)

  7. Margie, hope you had fun in Denver. Did you find the book you were lookin for?

Very nice poem. Very true. It is weird that strangers make such a difference to our lives even if it is a smile or a nice word but at the same time we take our loved ones for granted...

  8. very well-written! Our lives that we claim as our property is not really our's w.o. being touched by and touching another.

You know... you are so very right..
    strangers can make a difference
in our lives... but at the same time, we do take our loved ones
for granted. I try my very best not to do that though.
