THIS MOMENT

I shall remember the happy things
I shall remember
the special persons
the peaceful tranquil times.

I shall live each moment
with joy
seeing the best in everyone
finding fulfillment
in the bird's song
the flowers
the raindrops.

The world responds to me
as I say "hello" to it
friendly
or cheerless
it is mine to mold
second by second.

Regardless
of how the past has been
this moment
this day is mine
to live.

It contains
all I need
to be happy
if only
quietly
and thoughtfully
within myself.

Since I must
walk daily with memories
how much better
they be
the good ones
rather than
those best forgotten!

You said"And yet it is so difficult to remember happy things"
But, if we do not remember the happy things... are we not ruining the beauty of the present moments we now have!
We all, no difficult the past can
find some good things to remember!
How about "that sunset" from last night?
    Take care!

    I like that song...
    "Don't worry, be happy"
    Has a catchy little beat...
makes one want to dance in the street!
    ahhhh.... life is sweet!

So true Margie and also so hard to do. Its always the sad memories that linger on, wounding the soul. The happy ones forgotten because it was overtaken by the sad ones.

  8. It's weird. Each time I read a new poem from you, it seems like you're relating to my own life. I love this one especially, because I have been raising the past from the dead lately, and it's been getting to me...but there are memories that I treasure from the past that brings me happiness. Thank you for reminding me!

Love your work! Never quit! Keep on!

  16. Wow... i am the last to know it is your birthday today. I know it is not too late and hope you are not sitting in front of your pc reading this comment instead of being out having a cool romatic dinner or shaking a leg at the club.

“A wise guy is one who always remembers a woman's birthday but never remembers her age.”
Happy 18th Birthday Margie!!! :D lol

Boogie away and have a fantastic weekend.

    Another funny one...

You said " So true Margie, but also so hard to do.It is always the sad memories that linger on
    wounding the soul.The happy ones

    But Starry,
I do not believe it has to be that way... allowing sad memories to
wound my soul would make my days
    full of torment!
I only want to fill my day with
    the good memories .
Whatever I am thinking right now
is creating how I am feeling...
I turn to positive and loving thoughts because I choose to feel
    good! It works for me!
    Take care!

deb~ I am so glad my poems can
    relate to your life!
It is good to remember the
memories from your past that you treasure and bring you happiness!
Don't let those other memories get to you!
    Thanks for the kind words!
I will never quit... and shall keep on writing ( as best I can )
    Take care!
